Fantasy Premier League GW3: Time to Hit the Panic Button

An exciting game week 2 has now passed, and a lot of the less profiled players ended up stealing the show. Pukki (Norwich) scored a hattrick against Newcastle, and Lundstram (Sheffield United) became Man of the Match with his goal against Crystal Palace.

In the player won league at least one manager had anticipated Pukkis superb round since he was named captain of Käärme Oy. That was enough to earn them the second place with GreenGrassChess in the lead.

My team had a very average week, but it was nice to get both Lanzini (West Ham) and Trossard (Brighton) going. I've calculated with an early wild card, because you never know, who is gonna get a good start, and who isn't, so it's with a bag full of anticipation that I reset my team this week.

Krul (Norwich) came so close to a clean sheet, but I'm still gonna transfer him out. In is coming the Schmeichel (Leicester) and Pope (Burnley), since both the Leicester and Burnley defence have looked great. Leicester is playing Sheffield United, Bournemouth and Man Utd in the next 3 GW's, but Burnley has Brighton in GW5, so I'm probably gonna sub in Pope at that point.

The Liverpool defenders have not been that good to me compared to their cost. They are probably still gonna be a good investment throughout the season, but right now their defence is looking a bit shaky (Ings probably should have put in one more in Southampton's game against Liverpool last week), so I'm gonna try something else. Zinchenko (Man City) seems favored on left-back with Mendy (Man City) injured, so at 5.5m he's a bargain, since Man City's schedule seems relatively easy, and despite the result in the 2-2 game against Spurs, they have really started strong. Digne (Everton) also seems like a must-have, so he's in despite his minor injury against Watford. He apparently is back to training, so I'm hoping for an early comeback. Man Utd has also started strong, and their defence is looking a lot better this year, so I'm gonna go with Wan-Bisakka. Lastly, Lundstram (Sheffield United) and Kelly (Crystal Palace) is two very cheap defenders at 4.0m, ad they are actually playing regularly, so they've also made my team.

I'm switching Salah (Liverpool) for Mane (Liverpool) because Mane seems to be in better form at the moment. I'm also bringing in a lot of Man City quality in Sterling and De Bruyne. They look like sure starters, but you never do know with Guardiola. I'm keeping Trossard (Brighton), and hopefully, he can build on last games very good performance in this coming GW against Southampton. The last player is Martial (Man Utd) who is placed as a midfielder, but he has actually played all the way in the front in the first two games. He switches a bit with Rashford (Man Utd) on the side, but he's almost a million cheaper, and goals scored by midfielders earn more points.

It's slim pickings in the front because most of my money was spent in the midfield. Jimenez (Wolves) is probably the most prominent, and even though he hasn't scored yet in Premier League, he has made a lot of goals in the Europa League qualifiers, so I'm betting it's just a matter of time. Ings (Southampton) made a good figure against Liverpool even though he started on the bench, but away against Brighton, he'll probably start beside Che Adams. Last pick is Greenwood (Man Utd) who is getting a little time, but mostly I picked him because he's cheap.

Lineup for GW3

Starting eleven pretty much sets itself. I'm not favoring any of my cheap defenders even though Lundstram scored 14 points last GW. I don't think it's likely he'll do it again, but he is first sub just in case. Sterling takes the armband because I think Bournemouth is gonna get smashed.
